Week Five - Getting to Know You (Better)

Tenor Jonathan Burton is singing the role of Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca this summer at Central City Opera. On this episode, he shares his thoughts on what it’s like doing a role he’s done a number of times with colleagues who are new to their roles, the new idea that he and the director came up with in Act 3, whether or not Mario knows his fate at the end of the opera and how he handles that, and his favorite moments in this production. He also gives advice on how to be a good colleague onstage, and he shares how he got into opera and what keeps him going in this tough career.
